Which Word files can it read?
Documents saved as .docx, which Word has used since 2007. Older .doc files can't be read here; open them in Word and save them as .docx first.
What is kept in each format?
Plain text keeps the words, one paragraph per line. HTML and Markdown also keep headings, bold and italic text, lists, links and images. Markdown keeps tables as HTML, because Markdown has no tables of its own.
Why does my document say it is password-protected?
A document with a password to open is encrypted, so its text can't be read without the password. Remove the password in Word, then try again.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. They are read inside your browser, and never leave your device.
